FORUM 97 ART is a research corporation in the art field created a year
ago in Ascona, Switzerland,
which in collaboration with its curator Claudio Metzger, has promoted numerous
important works of art, by both old and modern masters. |
| The
first important study in the past year, concerned two paintings (Herminia
Finding Tancredi Wounded; Silvio
Finding Dorinda Wounded, oil on canvas, 240 x 293 cm), executed
in Bologna between 1647-1648. |
| The
paintings attributed to Francesco Barbieri, called Guercino
and his workshop, were researched and restored to determine the extent to
which Guercino himself authored these works. |
| The
paintings are known in the literature as the original second versions of
the famous Herminia Finding Tancredi Wounded, today in the
Edinburgh National Gallery and Silvio Finding Dorinda
Wounded, today in the Dresden
Gallery and are distinguished by the fact that they have remained
together throughout the centuries. |
| The
analyses (prepared independently by the SIK ZŸrich and the MAIP
Montreux) we funded contributed to the knowledge of the Guercino’s
work methods and his technique in the preparation of his palette of colors. |
| The
study is actually not completed. We intend to present the results on
